All of our coaches must have their Rules of Netball Theory Exam Pass and Foundation Coaching Course Certificate. These can both be completed online through Netball Learning. Check out our Courses page for more information

Ourimbah Netball Club support their coaches through our coaching development program including Coaching Clinics & mentoring throughout the season.

All Ourimbah Netball Club coaches must have their Working with Children's Check before they can be allocated to a team, if over 18 years old.

Pre Coaching
Requirements: ⁃ Must be turning 12 or 13 in the year they have requested to be apart of program ⁃ Be registered with ONC Roles and Responsibilities: ⁃ Spend time with allocated coaches who are involved within training program ⁃ Show respect and be able to listen and follow instructions ⁃ Be willing to participate in training activities ⁃ Have a general passion for netball ⁃ Have fun!! As part of the Pre Coaching program, all players interested will be fully supported through all aspects. They will be encouraged and exposed to different coaching techniques as we understand that not all coaching techniques work for all players and that is perfectly fine!! We hope to build up the confidence of our young players and help them to not only develop an understanding of what being a coach requires but also help develop their own playing skills. |
Assistant Coach
Requirements: ⁃ Must be turning at a minimum 14 in the year they have requested to be apart of program ⁃ No maximum age requirement. We fully encourage older players, parents or netball enthusiasts to become involved in coaching ⁃ Be registered with ONC ⁃ If over 18 years old, a WWCC is required Roles and Responsibilities ⁃ Listen to the coaches requests and guidance ⁃ Show respect and understanding to those around ⁃ Assist the coach to run warmups or drills As an assistant coach, you need to remember that you are acting as a role model to the young minds we are helping to develop. These children will be looking to you for support, guidance and encouragement. If you are unsure within a situation, you are encouraged to ask the coach for guidance so you can become more knowledgeable within that situation. |
Coach
Requirements: ⁃ If over 18, a WWCC is required ⁃ Foundation Coaching Course Certificate at a minimum (further development is available) ⁃ Be supportive, encouraging and treat all as equals ⁃ Be willing to communicate openly with families in a professional manner (Remember you are representing ONC on an authority level during games, trainings etc) ⁃ Willing to work with all players to help them reach for their goals, develop their skills and support their passion Roles and Responsibilities: ⁃ Look after all items given to you by the club such as balls, bibs, training gear, bags etc ⁃ Support and encourage all players ⁃ Be fair with court time for your players ⁃ Encourage any assistants or pre coaches that are working with you ⁃ Teach any assistants or pre coaches openly and positively As a coach, you are a role model. Everyone within the team/s you are looking after, is looking to you for professionalism, leadership and support. You are moulding young minds and how you are with the players (no matter the age) moulds the view they have on the sport and the club. Remember that winning is not everything! Try to see winning as watching your team grow and develop their confidence and skills, on and off the court. |
